Neue MacOS / Intel Beta-App

Hallo!

Mit der Version 4.33 gibt’s eine neue Beta-App für alle Intel Macs.

Vermutlich ist das die im Augenblick schnellste der E@H App überhaupt.

Beta-Tester sind immer willkommen!

BOINC ist eine Distributed Computing Plattform, entwickelt von der Universität Berkeley.
Darunter laufen diverse Projekte wie z.B. Einstein@Home (die Suche nach Gravitationswellen) oder Rosetta@Home (3D Strukturbestimmung von Proteinen) oder SETI@Home (die Suche nach Außerirdischen).
Für diese Projekte ist jeweils ein Team des Macmini-Forum aktiv. Unser BOINC Portal ist hier zu finden.
Die von Bikeman oben beschriebene Beta-App ist das Stück Software des Einstein@Home Projekts das die Auswertung der Daten auf den Rechnern der Mitglieder durchführt.

Schon getestet: die neue App ist in einem iMac mit 2.33 GHz genauso schnell wie die alte (4.22) in einem MacPro mit 3.2 GHz und schneller als in einem MacPro mit 3.0 GHz…

Habe jetzt auch die Beta installiert, bekomme aber keine WUs mehr zum testen (hatte auch keine mehr auf Lager)???

leider was Einstein betrifft gar nix mehr, bei den anderen Projekten ist aber alles ganz normal… allerdings gibt mir das jetzt noch zu denken!

Hat sich die Sache hier nach einem Reset des Projekts zum Guten gewendet?

Wie ich sehe hat Dein Intel-Mac inzwischen wieder Futter bekommen, aber Du verwendest immernoch die ur-alt 4.0.4 App, irgendwas hat bei der Installation der 4.33 App nicht funktioniert. Eine Anleitung für die Installation findets du hier:

Die 4.33 App ist bedeutend schneller (je nach WU fast doppelt so schnell), es sollte sich also lohnen.

Hier mal ein kurzer Bericht zu den derzeitigen offiziellen Apps.
Scheinbar wurde irgend wann zwischen 12. und 17.04. von der Version 4.22 auf die 4.37 upgedatet.
Mein Intel mit CD 1,66GHz hat sich in der Laufzeit von 11 Stunden auf 9 Stunden je WU verbessert.
Die Maschine ist in dieser “Downtime” zwar auch “leopardisiert” worden, das hat aber laut den Berichten aus den Betatests für die 4.33 nichts mit der Beschleunigung zu tun.

JA, hier ist die Rede von dem Projekt spezifischen Stück Software das die echte Arbeit macht.
Scheinbar sind die Jungs bei Einstein immer recht fleißig am Feilen das Ding noch schneller zu machen

Ja, die aktuelle Beta 4.42 (Link siehe oben) ist nochmal etwa 10% schneller als die derzeit offizielle 4.37. Je mehr Leute beim Beta-Test mittmachen desto schneller kann die App offiziell freigegeben werden.
